sick

The baby is sneezing, which might just be him clearing his lungs of mucous. Or not.

And an hour ago he threw up everything he nursed, and looked very out of sorts. He's slept all day.

I'm going to take him into the doctor tomorrow, but I really have this desire to run to an ER right now.

I'm sure he's fine....I fed him again, cleaned him up and swaddled him and rocked him to sleep.

I just wish I knew for sure that he was okay ahead of time, so I could relax and sleep now.

Gahhhhhhh

  1. You're right, sneezing could very well be him getting the amniotic fluid out of his system. Throwing up is also common for the same reason as long as it's not large amounts or projectile style vomiting. It's even more common in c-section babies because they didn't have that stuff squeezed out while coming down the birth canal. Always better to err on the safe side if you are concerned though. Maybe give your doc a call in the morning and see what they say.
I'm so happy for you and dinky. He's just adorable! I hope all is well.

  3. Ah, mommy-itus. I'm with you, he is probably fine, not happy about what happened, but fine. Keep an eye one him and . . . well run to the ER if he gets worse.

I keep scrolling down to look at his picture. He is so darn cute!

  4. I used to agonize over my babies too. I used to tell myself, if they're eating and pooing/peeing and there is no fever, then they are okay. My first used to vomit like a fiend and scare the crap out of me. Hang in there. If you're really worried though, go. No sense in putting yourself through hell waiting.

  5. XBoy sneezed a lot post c-section, and the sneezing is probably wearing him out, hence the sleeping. But no doctor is going to send you home for being worried.

  6. My goodness, I've missed all the drama and joy! Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! I'm so glad to hear you had some excellent people defending you when you needed it, sorry to hear how badly you needed it though.

  10. Hope he is OK & you don't end up in the ER!

Re b/f -- i think it was kathy mcc who suggested to me a product called 'soothies', they are gel pads & i have no idea how they work but they really help with the painful nipples. I got them at the pharmacy here, i don't know if they are available in your area but they really helped when the twins were little.

  11. Did you sleep? Is he still sneezing?

FYI, Kali sneezed a lot in her first few weeks. All was normal, she just didn't have much time during the pushing for her lungs to empty out.

  12. Just catching up on all your posts.
1- I'm impressed with your assertiveness at the hospital. I truly maintain that the health system would colapse without the nurses. Yes, doctors do doctor stuff, but the nurses really deal with the people.

2- I agree with you on the breastfeeding. (I had someone tell me post-NICU stay that it's alright if I give the baby formula- I don't have to tell anyone. Uh.... missing the point...)

3- Glad the fog is lifting somewhat for you. And glad you got the wax. Good thinking! As for the IV tape- I had the forsight to ask the nurse to please, pleeeease not tape near my arm hair. I am forever indebted to her.

4- Hope everything is ok with the baby... You are the one with all the mothering experience, so I would trust your gut. But as for the sneezing, my guy sneezed (and still does) a lot. He's not sick... he's just a sneezer. I hope his sleepiness and spit-up are just a coincidence.
